What is fenbendazole

Fenbendazole is a benzimidazole anthelmintic widely used in veterinary medicine. It disrupts microtubule formation by binding to beta-tubulin in susceptible organisms and impairs parasite energy metabolism, which helps eliminate a broad range of gastrointestinal worms.

Common veterinary targets include giardia, roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, some tapeworms of the Taenia genus, pinworms, strongyles, Strongyloides, and certain lung and fluke parasites depending on species and product labeling. There is public interest in fenbendazole in oncology due to laboratory data on microtubules and potential effects on cell division. How it is dosed

Veterinary use only (follow the specific product label and your veterinarian's advice):

A commonly referenced regimen in dogs is 50 mg/kg once daily for 3 consecutive days for removal of select parasites such as ascarids (Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina), hookworms (Ancylostoma caninum, Uncinaria stenocephala), whipworms (Trichuris vulpis), and certain tapeworms (Taenia pisiformis). Precautions and warnings

Possible side effects

Drug interactions

Missed dose
