How to Use

Interactions and Cautions

  • Alpha-blockers for blood pressure or prostate symptoms, such as doxazosin, may increase the risk of symptomatic low blood pressure when combined.
  • Nitrates or nitric oxide donors, including nitroglycerin and isosorbide products, are contraindicated due to the risk of severe hypotension.
  • HIV protease inhibitors (for example, ritonavir, saquinavir), azole antifungals (ketoconazole, itraconazole), macrolide antibiotics (erythromycin), H2 blockers like cimetidine, certain narcotic analgesics such as dihydrocodeine, and telithromycin may raise sildenafil and/or dapoxetine levels, increasing side-effect risk.
  • Enzyme inducers such as rifampin and bosentan may reduce effectiveness.

Medical conditions requiring special caution include, but are not limited to:

  • Structural penile issues (for example, Peyronie disease or cavernosal fibrosis) or blood disorders that predispose to prolonged erections, such as sickle cell anemia, leukemia, or multiple myeloma.
  • History of prolonged or painful erections (priapism) or any episode lasting more than 4 hours.
  • Significant cardiovascular disease, including recent heart attack or stroke, unstable angina, heart failure, aortic stenosis, or serious arrhythmias, especially within the past 6 months.
  • Low or high blood pressure, bleeding disorders, active ulcers, or vascular problems.
  • Kidney or liver impairment; lung disorders such as pulmonary veno-occlusive disease.
  • Eye conditions such as retinitis pigmentosa, macular degeneration, ischemic optic neuropathy, or a history of sudden vision loss; hearing problems including tinnitus or sudden hearing changes.
  • Allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances.
